Christmas Interior Trends 2022

Amongst the present buying, Christmas schedule planning and turkey ordering we’ve been keeping an eye on the top trends for this year’s festive season.

Here at Stancliffe Homes, we love keeping the interior styling natural, family focussed but also incorporating beautiful pieces to give that extra wow factor to the home. We think these 3 interior trends encompass this, and we’re excited to put them into practice!

  1. Red and gold Christmas tree

These are the in colours this Christmas time. With red and gold being such a timeless colour duo, it will hopefully mean more people are able to use older decorations making it better for the environment too.

A great place to start with this is with the Christmas tree, since red and gold compliment the green branches so beautifully.

2. Gonks

These charming little figures date back as far as 1600 in Norway, inspired by gnomes and hobgoblins. It was said that if families treated them well, then they would look after the family in turn. Therefore, gonks have become a bit like a ‘Christmas Gnome’ and their meaning makes them extra special to have around the home at Christmas.

Gonks come in all shapes and sizes, but are characterised by their low lying hats, beards and large round noses.

We love adding Gonks to sideboards, dressers and coffee tables - so they can enjoy the cosy Christmas moments with all the family!

3. Scandinavian Style

This one follows nicely after Gonks, since it’s where they originated, but we just can’t think of a time when Scandi interior style won’t be in.

This one is all about textures and simplicity. Think green garlands, wooden figures, off white sparkly lights and metal stars. The beauty of this trend is that it works so well with any background, and so will seamlessly create a beautiful Christmas vibe in any home.

We especially like Scandinavian style Christmas table decorations with pine cones, mini Christmas trees, a natural jute table runner and some LED tea lights (these are much safer than regular candles with many hands at the table). It’s great to keep things simple, especially when everyone will be thinking mostly about the delicious food!
