Show Home Inspiration - The Kingham at Chestnut Grove

Like what you’ve seen at our show home in Shireoaks? As we start to move out, we caught up the Stancliffe Homes show home designer to get some inside tips on how to recreate the look in your own home. Here’s what she had to say…

Don’t be afraid to go for big, bold colours.

At Shireoaks, we wanted to create a really comfortable and welcoming home, instead of something clinical and clean. With that in mind, we opted for a range of deep colours through the home, together with rustic lighting to add warmth to the home.

Eye catching art work is paramount

In a new build home, you can easily create character by choosing some beautiful artwork for the walls. There are so many small, independent artists that can be found now who will create exceptional pieces at reasonable prices. Finding art that reflects your personality has never been easier and it is a great way of adding character and charm to your home.

We used a range of pieces from local artists in our show homes and the above featured in our lounge either side of the TV unit to add symmetry and style to the room.

Make bland sofas a thing of the past.

We all spend more time than we’d care to admit on our sofa, so we should make a statement with this piece of furniture! Choosing bold colours and textures really catches the eye and makes a statement. We opted for a deep green velvet sofa in the kitchen, living and dining area of the new home at Shireoaks and lots of people said it was their favourite part of the home.

Choose a focal point for each room.

Start by choosing a focal point in each room, you can then choose your other decorative pieces to complement this one main design feature.

For example, in the bedroom at Chestnut Grove, Shireoaks, our focal piece is the large oak framed bed. We then complimented this with pieces to help promote the focal element. We opted for a bold colour on the panelling to the rear of the bed and for a range of soft furnishings to finish the feature.
