Summer plans? Sorted.

August is here, and with the month stretching out nicely in front of us we have pulled together some of our favourite ways to spend it:

  1. Walk it out

We are lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful countryside here in Derbyshire. Our developments are unique but are all ideally placed for stunning walks and breathtaking views. Whether it be alongside the canal in Shireoaks, or into the Peaks from Nethermoor Close just grab a picnic and some water - no transport required for a lovely lunch out as a family! For further walk inspiration we would recommend The Derbyshire County Council page here.

  2. A bug’s life

We don’t just build houses for humans… even the smallest of creatures are looked after here at Stancliffe Homes with our very own ‘Bug Hotels.’ We know how important it is to look after these teeny insects, and it’s the perfect chance to get curious with your little ones. Whether it be planting more flowers for the bees, or keeping a bird feeder, we’ve loved looking at The Woodland Trust for more ideas on helping local wildlife prosper.

  3. Music to our ears
Queen’s Park is the ideal place for swings, slides, kicking a football about and of course an ice cream treat! They will also have a brass band playing on Sunday afternoons during the summer, from 2pm until 4pm. It’s the perfect place for all of the family to enjoy some open air music and get the picnic rug out again.

  4. Food, glorious food

If you’re a foodie there’s nothing quite like fresh and local food in the summer, for either a quick bite to eat or an all day grazing affair. This website has a fantastic list of local food markets ranging from all things vegan to a brewery festival in and around Derbyshire.
